What you’ll do as a Solution Architect, Senior Consultant: 

Our Solution Architects are part of the Technical Design/Architecture Team within the UK Advisory Group. Working in close collaboration with our client’s business and technical stakeholders, our Solution Architects take ownership of the business and technical strategy, architecture, and assurance. They lead on the discovery of key challenges and constraints (regulatory, local/national, operational & technical), and then come up with technical solutions. Our technical consultants demonstrate a significant level of hands-on experience with technologies and a desire to maintain a balance between technical and business skills as they grow their careers. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Develop and validate the technical approach and supporting models. 

  • Align and /or integrate external systems to fit client networked solution. 

  • Design & run feasibility studies using agile methods.  

  • Manage the implementation of solutions, including liaison with client teams, suppliers, etc. 

  • Assess solutions and capabilities from suppliers and/or as part of a procurement process. 

  • Assure the implementation of microservices, including security-in-depth; good interface design (ideally using GraphQL). 

  • Work with the wider Design Team to develop the maturity of our Architecture knowledge, artefacts & collateral. 

  • Act in KBR’s best interests and demonstrate our core competencies of; drive, flexibility, building relationships, communication skills and self-motivation 

 

What are we looking for? 

Hours: This is a permanent role within our UK Advisory Group. We consider flexible ways of working, that allow the best outcomes for our people and clients. Working closely with our clients is key to successful outcomes, and so travel across the UK is a requirement. 

 

Essential 

  • Proven experience of delivery within the public sector. 

  • Proven ability to develop strong relationships and be able to influence colleagues, senior client stakeholders, partners, suppliers. 

  • Proven experience leading the delivery of software development, ideally as an Architect / Lead designer of technical solutions. 

  • Experience in the design and review of software development. 

  • Strong knowledge of Cloud Solution design (AWS) and hold AWS Certifications. 

  • Experience of delivery with agile methods, such as SCRUM. 

  • Ability to capture architecture in MOOD model. 

  • Experience of leading technical and economic value discussions with broader team and justify major technology implementation decisions. 

  • Knowledge of event-based architectures, e.g. using Kafka. 

  • Knowledge of the tools and processes for DevOps continuous build and integration. 

  • Ability to communicate technical ideas/concepts/designs to a technical and non-technical audience. 

  • Eligibility and willingness to undergo UK security clearance – SC/NPPV3 & random drug testing.

Desirable 

  • Experience in technical design modelling & methods – UML, BPMN, SOA, TOGAF. 

  • Understanding of computing trends, e.g. AI, IoT, open source, distributed processing. 

  • Exposure to complex data environments. 

  • Experience of enterprise networking and integration in the public sector, including hybrid cloud. 

  • Hold an undergraduate degree – ideally in computer science, maths, or engineering.
