I am evaluating piece of contracting work for 6 months based in the US (LA to be specific). I am living in the UK but Client will not pay flights from UK to US (that is given), however what will be the day rates in the US for a consultant based(living) in the US..What is considered a decent day rate for a contractor consultant in Lean Manufacturing. Does that rate inclusive of expenses? Contract is for 6 months. I am an MBA and have 20 years mixed experience both in industry and consulting. I am going through an agency and so it is fair to assume that they mark it up on top of my rates. So, what should be the day rate, I should go in for, to this agency? Appreciate your inputs...

Although the end client will not pay expenses, maybe the agency will? Should be worth a try any way. I'd go for £800/day upwards.

Is that $ 800 or £800, I am assuming the latter... I will be doomed if it is $...

Yes, understood the £ sign but with the $ vs £ FX rates so not the same recently, just thought you might have mentioned in $ rates in the US than giving me £ rates and letting me converting it with an uncertain FX rates.. Regardless of the FX rates fluctuation, the ball park daily rates in the US will not change, I am assuming...Yeah, yeah, ok... I am overthinking this.... but thanks anyway for the help...
