This just shows that they are worried about leaks and their reputation in the outside world which seems to be suffering. Just don't use their laptop then you should be safe

In BOP, we are being watched like hawks for using this forum. The partners have already accused a number of people of posting on here.I haven't heard anything firm yet, but FT&P (as it was) seems to be the obvious candidate for cuts, particularly since the procurement specialists were made redundant. There are no finance experts left at MC level. It is rumoured that the PC now leading the group will go up soon, but there have been no promotions in finance staff for at least 4 years now, so I wouldn't hold my breath. We had a very big automotive shared services client, that is now going down the BPO route which PA Consulting can't / won't do. Once that client goes away in the next few months, it is difficult to see where the business justification for keeping a finance offering on will be, particularly as one of the BOP partners has been very strongly against it since the start.

This post is just nonsense. There is no announcement about further job cuts. Obviously a competitor trying to stir things up.

Are all these "cuts" in the main consulting business or has the Cambridge centre or the ventures hit too?

The Cambridge Centre was definitely hit by the last round of job cuts...... They are also saving money by shutting off part of the building and squashing everying/everyone into a smaller space.

I don't know. There are still a lot of people off the clock, particularly in Government. A lot of the public sector jobs are being deferred until after the election next year, so I think we will see more cuts in early 2010.Profitability was good in 2009, so at least the bonuses should be OK

I don't think the bonuses for BOP in 2010 will be all that good. Over the past year and a bit, we have lost one partner and about 3 or 4 MCs. Sales have really suffered, so I think that the 2009 full year figures will be awful.

C'mon dude. Get with the programme. Has no one told you that the usual cheerleaders response to any criticism of PA is to dismiss it as "boring" ?The reason why so many BOP consultants post on here, is because our partners treat us like cr*p, and it has been like this since Andrew P left in 2006. He was a decent and kind man with good business acumen. The partners and the MCs that have not left are very far from that model.Good profits for 2009 ? I’ll believe it when I see it. Still, I s’pose at least there are so many people on PIPs now that there should be a lot fewer staff around in April to feast on the tiny bonus pool (once the partners have taken their 65% share)Off out to the pub now. See yaBOP man

If you think PA treats its consultants badly spare a thought for the non-fee earning Corporate people. You can imagine what a bundle of joy that is.

No, SuperPOC, we don't get bonuses in line with consultants. In our Practice, a PC with a 4 gets twice the percentage of a 'Support' with a 4. There is no consistency - it's 'let them eat cake'.

But a consultant in one practice with a 2 can get twice as much as a consultant with a four in another practice. It's a lottery. No wonder it causes so much bad feeling, though some are chuffed whether justified or not.

It's not a lottery at all. Someone with a 2 in D&S will get more than someone with a 4 in, say, BOP simply because it's a much higher performing practice. It's obvious that the best people in the best practices will be the best rewarded. The only people upset normally upset about bonuses are the folk in the BTG practices.Still, you BTG lot can always pin your hopes on the Zombie Economy book hitting the Christmas bestseller list!

"In our Practice, a PC with a 4 gets twice the percentage of a 'Support' with a 4. No, no, no 'at cracker'!! Our ratio is 1 admin to 15 consultants, and for that reason we also need to work long hours to get the work done. Your admin staff seem to have a good deal. Think I'll apply for a transfer, then I won't feel hard done by at bonus time!!

BOP Man - some interesting points made.My perspective is that BOP needs leaders who are able to see the bigger picture and market opportunities rather than those who care only about themselves.A willingness to invest to grow and take a risk is required rather than expecting those individuals with the desire to do something different to personally carry all the risk. This is not restricted to BOP as I know of one individual who spent his time establishing a relationship who was rewarded with a 1 as he missed his targets - despite opening the door to a major new client.Balanced agasint this is that harking about the past will solve nothing and the solution for anyone not happy with their lot is to do something about it.If that means seeking a new role with a new employer then that is what you should do.Sitting and moaning will solve nothing.

"Moaning" solves nothing in one's own personal. On the other hand, "telling it as it is" on here may stop other people making a poor move into PA and save their suffering. Only a certain type of person can prosper at PA and in my experience it's not a particularly attractive one.

@ JellfishYou have it absolutely spot on. Too may of those that prosper are sycophants, constantly sucking up to partners, and stabbing their peers in the back at any opportunity. And this behaviour is actively encouraged by the way in which people are assessed and rewarded.

"And this behaviour is actively encouraged by the way in which people are assessed and rewarded."Apart from the 360 degree review which stops behavior like that. But don't let that spoil your argument, boo hiss to PA eh? Oh, I must be a "corporate drone" for sticking up for PA zzzzzzzzzzzz

@ change the record.Ah yes, the 360 review, with its anonymous peer input, obscure calculations (never successfully explained or justified) and the infamous line manager adjustments.Designed to protect and reward the sycophants and grind out those who do not play the game.Any company that uses such tactics, especially the undocumented and totally subjective line manager adjustments cannot claim to be ethical
