AfternoonJust read a few threads here where people are recently in the process of moving jobs to join Accenture. I left ACN 18mths ago just before the cull started. I have not heard or seen any signs of recruitment starting again in consulting. I am considering a move back to the firm so any inside advice greatly appreciated. PS I'm looking for roles in Systems Integration & Technology consulting (public sector) at Manager or Snr Manager. Cheers

Hello. No, AcN is stuck and has not been employing anyone for ages.Lack of client work is THE reason.None knows if and when they will change strategy..

FS is indeed recruiting for specific skills: cap mkts and some banking. Boom and bust, boom and bust, repeat ad infinitum.

Without giving too much away, I have heard that pipeline has increased substantially, bench has decreased, and one strategy is to take on contractors to meet the pending skills shortage. Given the recent rounds of redundancies, they are taking a cautious approach of not hiring permanent staff until they see concrete signs of sustained economic growth (contractors easier to offload if economy dips again). As such, don't expect a large recruitment drive immediately, but I expect recruitment activity to increase substantially into the next year. Also seeing substantial increase in recruitment interest from the competition - mainly at to top end for quality candidates. So wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing another round of "war for talent" - agree with Bob's 'boom and bust'.

Short answer: yes, they are hiring again. Long answer: SI&T were forced to let go of a lot of specialist talent in the last cull along with the chaff. Think SAP BI, PLM, and industry specific skills. Now some CSGs (industry groups) are getting big wins in the new FY since clients have decided to continue / start those massive implementations they had pencilled in anyway. The bench is quite low, single digits in a lot of practices (except, ahem, MCIM) and the analysts are half-baked. So experienced consultants are being tapped quietly for contract AND permanent roles. Some are staffed directly into an existing project as contractors for ACN.

Definitely need to start recruiting again in the next 6-12 months, if not earlier. As mentioned contractors being used to backfill at the moment. The landscape has changed significantly. MC is also flat out with barely anyone on the bench certainly T&OP and Strats in the UK have 0 to very very little bench. That said seems management are still not ready to believe it will continue.
