So - has anyone had their annual rating call yet? Any idea when we find out about pay and promotions?

Right! Right! So someone already got a call? Well done UKS, but do they not tell you about promotions/bonuses at the same time? Incidentally how many tiers are there in the ranking?

It has been acknowledged there's been a lot of grade inflation this year.. so not holding my breath... Usually you find out first from your career counsellor and then you get a Partner call about pay following that.

That's not quite right. The imposed bell curve is:5 10% 4 20% 3A 25% 3B 25% 2 10% 1 10% Where 5 is best. I got a 2 with similar EPRs.3A isnt bad going!

Anon- how on earth can you get a 2 with similar EPR's - that's in the bottom 20% and yet you were consistently exceeding expectations!!?

Believe me I'm asking that very question. I've been given a number of reasons.. although one of which is that grade inflation hasn't helped my position. People getting SEE when they should have got EE or EE instead of ME.. oh well.

Re DC - Anon got a "2" with circa 35% SEE and 65% EE!!So to get a 5 I assume it is 100% SEE this year and for a "4" it is 70%+ SEE.. Oh dear, does not bode well for me.

Low expectations, low performance, low pay [unless you're a partner]. It's the green dot way.

It's not that the expectations are low, it's just that the grading system is applied inconsistently within each project, peer group or competency, leading to grade inflation. Also, the grades you get for individual projects bear only fleeting resemblence to the forced ranking at year-end. Don't be fooled by good EPRs into thinking that you might get a good grade at year-end. As soon as you understand that, you can aim for the 4s and 5s through the more effective route of brown-nosing (AKA schmoozing or "building your network"). Better luck next year!

So much dross stacked up over the last few years it'll take another five years to clear out the ranks and make room for promotions.
