Hi guys,What mobile phones do you all use?I've reached upgrade time and am looking for a new phone handset that will make my life easier. What do you think of the HTCs? Is Windows mobile any good? What about Android?I need a phone that can handle multiple e-mail accounts (work via Exchange and personal via IMAP4).Also, do you know of any phones that support 'profiles' whereby you can have it in 'work mode' one day (showing work contacts and e-mails etc) and then 'home mode' another day (so that you see only personal e-mails and contacts at the weekend)?Support for Orange Unique Phone would also be good as my reception at home is otherwise rubbish.Cheers!

IMHO this has got very little to do with being a mgt consultant. Can I kindly suggest you look/post on a mobile phone forum instead.

It has everything to do with being a consultant! As highly networked professionals who need to be in constant contact with our plethora of clients and other contacts in very senior management positions, a mobile phone is one of our lifelines. Hence, I need a good one!So any recommendations guys?

Listen Mr. "I'm too important to talk about mobile phones", it damn well is relevant to this forum. Just as the previous highly entertaining (and partly informative) discussions about suits, cufflinks and watches. As a consultant, travelling and working out of town, my phone is one of my two most important work tools (the other one being my laptop). So, on to the subject: I recomment the iPhone. I was originally sceptical since I viewed it as more of a toy, or an entertainment device. But support for multiple e-mail accounts is good. Sound quality is good. Can use the music headset for making hands-free calls. Contacts sync with Outlook. Calendar syncs with outlook. I don't use it to view or edit MS Office docs so not quite sure if it supports these. I think it does PDF attachments. On top of all this, you get your full CD collection to take with you on the road (and only have to carry a single device), can use it to watch video while travelling, can use the browser (or apps) to check flight and train times, plus you can facebook without the client seeing it on your laptop screen. Comes with maps/gps so you can find your hotel and restaurants nearby. You can even use the browser to check up on Top-Consultant.com (Tony (or the other moderator dude - forget your name) BTW - when do we get a mobile version of this chat board?). Plus, you don't need to lug around a separate charger since it charges via USB using the sync cable. So, to the critics of this thread. If you still don't see what all of this has to do with life as a consultants, please do explain.

Take no notice Crazy Frog,I remember a "grad-dude" asking in a company strategy open Q&A session back in 1999."what do the partners think of the www and its impact on our business"Once he'd explained to the partners what the internet was, they suggested that as the session was quite short, they should stick to "on topic" questions.Ignore the luddites - sure, they're all "senior", but you'll be eating their lunch in 24 months.PS. Would love to say that the "grad-dude went on to found e-bay or amazon, but actually he was a bit of a waster....

What's www?Right, onto important stuff, choice of sandwiches. Even senior partners like me need to eat sometimes. Should I:(a) go and buy some myself,(b) send a lacky to do it for me(c) wait for the tray of leftovers from the client meeting - can't believe how many companies still do this... mind you the coronation chicken can be nice sometimes, mmm

Mr 'My name is Bob and I know it all' - you clearly know nothing. Anyone who has an iPhone knows the phone lasts about a day through normal use. If you went to a 'proper' forum for discussing this you'd get sensible suggestions such as the Nokia E71, or wait and hold out for the E72 to come out.Now go back to searching for jobs and I'll go and have a pint.

I'm a consultant so of course I know everything. I've had an iPhone 2G for 18 mos and still working fine. The secret is so few moving parts. Not many buttons that can fall off.But funnily enough I've just ordered an E71 since firm will no longer pay for my O2 bills.Guess I will have to go to a proper forum to provide my comparative views of the two. Consultant dudes are far too self important. Come to think of it since I'm strictly speaking a lowly IT consultant I probably shouldn't be on this forum in the first place. Dude, they stole my car!

all the phones on the market right now look like they have potential but just aren't good enough. support for only a single calendar, for instance. or mediocre web browsers and poor email support.
