I am working in the Internal Audit department of a Fortune 500 company. Now I am thinking about applying at the top strategy consulting firms. Has anyone a similar career path and is willing to share his/her experiences? How are the chances of getting in (generally and at the moment)?Thanks for sharing all your thoughts!

To be brutally frank, you’re not going to get into strat consulting with that background. Operational consulting is a more likely route. If you want to join a strat house, you will need to go back and do an MBA. Either that or join the strategy department in your current employer.

Blunt is right. Ops Consulting is a better chance of getting in and then maybe work your way towards Strategy within the firm (assuming the firm does strategy and ops consulting).Otherwise, work towards getting into strategy dept in your company then apply to the stra consulting firms or do an MBA.
