Was approached via email by an agent for a role. Called him. he said he would call back...but like more than 90% of agents didn't return the call. Found the job with another agent. Registered with them. Wrote to original recruiter to request my CV is now withdrawn from their database. Worked a treat! So don't sell yourself short. If they give shoddy service (which 90% do), ask to have your CV removed from their database. That way you are entitled to approach the client through another source

This is a good idea - what's the point in being 'registered' with them all if nobody can be bothered to call me.How often have any of them ever called me?There is a small number of great recruiters out there but the majority could do with a hand, so I thought I'd help out and reduce by one the number of CVs they have to run through...

And you believed him when he said he'd deleted your CV! Haha, that's just funny. He'll tell you that but never will!

Ownbacker, did you also send £5000 to that nice sounding chap in Nigeria who said he needed it to release some assets?

It's called data protection - if I ask them to remove all details they have about me, they are obliged to do that. And in any case if I ask and they later call me about a job, how professional does that look?

If you were approached in the first place by mail and they already had your CV, then I assume it was on a job board. Problem is now they've removed all your details from their database, they won't know they have spoken to you the next time they see your CV and will call you. If you're spending your time "registering" with "agencies" then no wonder you receive a shoddy service.
