Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) do you rate this certification?

At first glance, I thought it read "CRAP"!LOL.Anyhow, I don't really know much about it, however for MC I personally would go for CMC or something.

CMC membership ?? Now, THAT is crap. Why not do something credible like ACCA, CIMA, or PRINCE2?

ACCA, CIMA etc are accountancy qualifications.Prince 2 is for project managers. Both of the above are robust and relevant but not specific to consultancy.CMC is different to the above. It's not an MBA or full time study course or something where you have to pay for some kind of intensive training. It's a practical, internationally-recognised way of checking your attainment against core consultancy competencies and learning from other experienced consultants as you do so. So.... my view is that it's well worth doing, but don't expect it to be a substitute for an MBA or the like because that's not what it holds itself out to be.

Its a pile of poo.Go do a decent qualification, and don't waste your time with this sh*te

Presumably the OP is specifically interested in Business Analysis specific qualifications, so what relevant (i.e. Prince 2 is not a comparable/relevant/similar qualification) alternatives to IIBA's CBAP are there?

From what is said here, it sounds like PWC may be an Accredited Practice. My understanding is that an Accredited Practice may offer the CMC award as a result of internal assessment, and in recognition of in-house training and development.

“From what is said here, it sounds like PWC may be an Accredited Practice. My understanding is that an Accredited Practice may offer the CMC award as a result of internal assessment, and in recognition of in-house training and development.”PwC used to offer this to staff as it was so easy to obtain (just attach a cheque), but stopped many years ago as it adds absolutely no value whatsoever. You are far better off getting some proper qualifications under your belt.In my 15 years of consulting, I have never heard of a single client even mentioning this “qualification”. At least that kid who recently got a certificate for taking a bus did something to obtain his award. For most folks, you only need to send your fees in to get this nonsense certification, which does not even equate to NVQ Level 1.

I did the CMC and can assure you it's a lot more rigourous and useful than people realise. It's particularly useful to people who want to develop their consulting skills in general rather than just specific parts such as project management.

what other certification options have you considered?is the certification deemed to be of value in your own organisation/would you receive support/encouragement to pursue it?
