Rubbish - Capgemini Consulting's salary bands are very similar to that of Deloitte, Accenture and IBM. The salary of an experienced manager at Deloitte will typically not exceed that of an experienced MC at Capgemini.

the same really? Are you working on planet Mars or at Cap HR?Maybe the compensation is the same if you include the bonus you'll never receive because the calculation will be changed during the year. And bear in mind that if Cap recruits you at senior manager level, another consulancy would have probably recruited you at principal level.

Actually we've paid out our bonuses in full for the last 4 years which is more than most. For those who perform very well you can achieve up to 200% of your on-target bonus.

so now everyone gets his/her bonus at Capgemini?Your're funnier than a Dilbert Comic strip.I worked there and bonuses were the exception, not based on performance but on how we got well with your boss.Anyway Capgemini don't have any management consulting business (IT strategy is IT not strategy, thas IT)

What happened?Well I thought I would joined a management consultancy - it was Cap Gemini Ernst & Young - and I realised I had joined a band of IT monkeys. At first I did interesting projects but as the VPs from Gemini and E&Y left, management consulting projects vanished. Then all opportunities began by "our client is implementing a new software and...". That did not prevent techies from calling themselves consultants. When they were fed up paying me for sitting in the office preparing my GMAT they gave me a pay check with which I financed my MBA. Now I do 90% business strategy. But not all my colleagues were as lucky. Capgemini has ruined the careers of many and now they are stuck with shitty IT projects. So bitterness is not the word. Disgust and utter contempt would be more appropriate to describe what I feel for IT morons like the post above who asked "if IT strategy is not strategy then what is strategy". That says it all about capgemini "consultants".And BTW how could you be a current Gemini since Gemini disappeared several years ago.

As a current recruiter into CG consulting business I would just like to state for the record that their pay is well within market rate, their benefits package is well above market rate and their banding system well conceived. I hope that helps.

Former Gemini - in other words you did get moved on for sitting in the office wasting their time (..."When they were fed up paying me for sitting in the office preparing my GMAT they gave me a pay check with which I financed my MBA"...). I stayed with the firm and I can tell you that it's been well worth it (financially and progression wise). The work remains interesting - a good mix of business and IT consulting. Certainly no better/worse than you will find at Deloitte / Accenture / PwC, etc. No one is saying Capgemini competes with the top-tier strategy firms - if that's what you were expecting then hey, you got what you deserved.

One of the worst places to work ever. Low calibre consultants, the ones that are good leave before long. VP's which are reminiscent of a sketch from the office. Low salary, low bonuses, just generally a poor performing 3rd rate consultancy that does public sector process mapping. I agree with the below market rate comment. Stay away if you have any ambition for a rewarding career both financially and career wise.

70-75k including "flexipay" out of which you "buy" fringe benefits like private health. Doesn't include bonus, but you won't be seeing that for a couple of years in this climate.

Yep: they don’t pay well. Don’t know what planet the “current recruiter into CG consulting business” is on (probably a self serving one) but I also recruit for them and of course see candidates leaving them. They routinely low ball offers and some (although admittedly not all) leavers are paid shockingly badly

I would guard against generalisations. Capgemini Consulting is a large and quite successful business - if what you guys describe is the norm, how would they attract/retain talent? Also, I don't know where you guys get your information but it doesn't correlate with my experience. I moved from Accenture to Capgemini two years ago. My salary is higher than it would have been (I have friends at Accenture and Deloitte so I have a good idea of where I could have been) and I am very happy with the bonus payments so far - all indications are that this year's bonus payments will again be solid.BTW - I am a manager (MC).

Where do I get these facts? Simply because I worked there and after 2 years wasting my time with IT monkeys I left (and no, not kicked out). For years Capgemini has tried to build a reputable management consulting business but always failed. They purchased several highly rated management consultancies but never managed to integrate them properly. They are IT people who can't understand want management consulting is. Theh have destroyed Gemini Consulting, Bossard Consultants, E&Y Consulting...So they have not busted but fallen down to a tier-3 consultancy as so well decribed by a post above.

You can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear: the consultants they bought were only ever third tier, association with IT monkeys did nothing to enhance that reputation

This thread is like a ping pong game between those that like Capgemini and those that don't. Like every Consultancy, IT/Management, Capgemini do have their unique culture and role in the market place. I left a high paid job in a top American City firm to join Capgemini over 12 years ago. Yes, I did take a pay cut to join Capgemini but I joined to be part of a culture which I still love, hence why I am still here even though I have had ssveral external offers. I am sure there will be an offer that will tempt me out one day. But for now this is the best place for me (IT Monkey, Management Consultant and a happy employee). Oh, and the pay is good but will depend on how good you are...

Cap Consultant, No one would leave Accenture to go to CapGemini by choice which leads me to believe you were councilled out of ACN or missed promotion on more than 1 attempt and left.As a client buying CapGemini "Services" I would describe the quality of people they ship in through my door as mediocre at best. We've started reviewing all Cap CV's and interviewing proposed consultants to stop wasting our time !

Anonimator - What utter rubbish. I know people at Capgemini who joined from: Mckinsey, Bain, Accenture, Deloitte, KPMG, E&Y and Booz.Since joining the firm I have interviewed quite a few candidates from Accenture and Deloitte (most of whom we didn't hire btw). Also, I'm surprised your organisation doesn't review the CVs of all consultants - pretty much standard practice nowadays.

CapGemini might not be the best consultancy or in the league of the MBBBs.But as a client, they are one of the best and most intelligent consultancy out there if we need any consultancy to work across the spectrum to turn a firm around or to grow it.I like to get them in to help with planning and implementation of strategy. And we are even happy to hire them for a lot of our functional strategy pieces. They are the best to work with from conception to implementation of key objectives.

Crapgemini Consulting’s pay is about 10-15% below the market. The VP’s tried to stem the deluge of people leaving by offering a “Salary Benchmarking” exercise in April, but only looking at the Supply Chain and FET areas. And here is the real kick in the teeth – the results are in, and nobody is underpaid. Not a single person! The business is almost completely sold out, we haven’t had a pay rise in two years, and yet our VPs can’t figure out why anyone with an ounce of ability is leaving and we can’t get any good people to join.

The previous post by Forum Fan was not done by me, the original user of the ID.Top Consultant - this is getting very, very irritating. Why do you constantly refuse to set up accounts that mean one user - one user name? I take great care in ensuring that I provide (hopefully) useful responses to people's posts. What is the point if someone can use the same user name as me?
