I got a low 2:1 in Bcom. starting a masters do consultings companies really look into weather you got a high or a low 2:1/1:1 etc in terms of offering an interview? Is emailing hr a good idea before your online application?

You got the 2:1 - that's what matters, not the actual % grade.Do not email HR about this - if they want an excuse to screen you out you'll be giving them one.

You should consider whether the weather will be good or bad on the day you go for an interview.Do they teach nothing these days!!!

Hehe, I really like that comment about considering what the weather will be like on the day you go for an interview. This sort of thing also applies to sales situations.I'd be interested in hearing any other little gems like this that people might be able to share. You know the sort of thing - always make sure you go first if possible (or is it last?), print any letters on slightly thicker than usual paper, try and dress half a notch up from what they (i.e. interviewer/client) usually wear around the office, and so on.
