Dear all,I am in need of some help/guidance in improving my powerpoint skills. I am currently working as a consultant and, as part of my role, I am required to prepare PPT slides. But because I am not very good at this, I don't feel confident in presenting my ideas to senior partners. This may sound bit OTT but whenever I see somebody presenting a good slide, instead of concentrating on the content, I start thinking about 'how they must have prepared this slide'.Is there any book or any coaching available for preparing PPT? Please help.Thank you.

Buy "say it with charts" and "say it with presentations"

Powerpoint is a tool. Creating good presentations is a skill.I find that focusing on the content and message (ignoring the technology) yields a higher-quality result, and I generally sketch out my ideas and presentations on paper before I head over to Powerpoint. Everyone has their own working style, but paper works best for me.

Do not buy "say it with charts" or "say it with presentations" - they're both rubbish. If you want to get the archetypal death by bullet point reputation of most consultants then go ahead

Powerpoint is a (potential) 'tool of your trade'. If you were using hand tools, machinery ...anything, in fact, surely your employer would give you some formal training, or apprentice you to someone who would be there to coach you. Be honest - say you're struggling - ask to go on a training course. Wouldn't any consultancy advocate training if people are not confident of what they're doing?
