I've worked in IT now for 10 years, performing various roles from Helpdesk to on site installation engineer.I currently do part time service desk work as a Vista technician and am self employed advertising in local media that has lead to servicing home users and small businesses.Hour for hour the self employed is far more lucrative than even an IT managers role.My dilemma is I don't see a future in being an 'employee' as corporate IT is so helpdesk orientated, and you will ultimately become team leader, then manager, etc. NOT me at all.My self employed stuff is great in that it is varied, and different locations each time, meeting new people, etc.Any tips?
