What does the band for Manager at PWC consulting get paid? and same for a senior manager? Been approached for role in FS Strategy practice. Any answers from insiders very welcome.

About 60K if you are top of your peer group, plus all the extras

Hi, Can you please give a range (minimum and maximum)? I am assuming £60K is maximum based on your post. That is quite low compared to full-service consultants of same grade - ACN (Mgr) CapG (Snr Con), who can earn between £50K-80K. And they are not even in the Strategy pratice. One would think strategy consulting carries a tiny salary premium over operational consulting and change management.

Are the extras significant? or standard....I guess what I'm asking is ...is the £60K the main. I agree with the other contribution, that seems low. Is the Senior Manager band much bigger then? What is the rep of this practice within?

60k is about right. The extras aren't that significant.

Agreed. Long gone are the days when PwC paid a premium above the market. Just visit Embankment Place to see how cheap and shabby the whole place looks

The benefits are significant. Bonus is ok - 22% last year (13k), plus pension, and the rest I just take the money rather than having the dental and medical cover, adds an extra 4k.

Overall package is still about 15 - 20% below competitors like Deloitte and Capgemini for a similar grade.Pay is in line with EY FS though, which doesn't say much

60k pre-benefits (about another 5k) for top-end of manager band.Rep. of team is not stellar, but they have some good people.

Just checking on this as i've been recently approached for the same role. Can someone in the know (i.e. who knows for sure) please confirm upper boundary for the manager (i think it's referred to as "consultant") base salary on this role and what exactly the extras involve. From what i'm reading this seems very low when compared to piers and would like to get this clarified now before going any further. Cheers.

Faor play trying to get some info before you go, but if you can't get a definitive answer, then why not ask the headhunter? Its in their intesret to get you to attend the interview, but no tat the cost of lying.......and if they don't know, then don't bother going.

Thanks for the response but believe it or not i'm not exactly overly inclined to take what the headhunter says as gospel. Don't get me wrong, there are many good and decent recruiters out there. Still interested in the role so would like to know for sure.

Anyone knows if the salary and package especially for this level at PwC improved? is it still maximum of £60K basic? The seem to be very active in recruitment at the moment.

The team's recruiting heavily because a lot of people left since July 2010 when the Strategy team was moved into Consulting. There are pros and cons to this change. but for some who liked the old standalone model, it was a reason for changing jobs.

yeah, they were well respected as a team - especially on the CDD/M&A strategy side of things and had some good people. most have left as i understand -- people i spoke to said it was largely the result of inflexibility on the part of the powers that be to reward / promote people properly and also just stupid decisions around merging/demerging and merging again with the different parts of the wider firm over the last couple of years.
