Hey,I’m 18 years old and I’m currently on an I.T course with "Zenos Academy" il get the following qualifications from it:-Comptia a+-NVQ level 3-ADITP (advance diploma IT professional)-MCDST (Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician)I am aware this isn’t much but it’s a good start and I’m here to kindly ask for some much needed advice.I will be finishing my course in July and I’m confused on what to do once I have left. I have the options of going to Uni and studying computer science and maybe some CISCO courses, going straight into a support desk job or finally taking a student loan to take private courses before finding work.At this point in time I feel that the best option for me is to take a loan and find some private courses in I.T I am interested in security and thinking of looking into CISCO security but I have no idea what courses I should look into.Any advice anyone could give would be a great help Thanks

unless you want to be a techie all your career lack of a degree may hold you back if you want to progress into consulting or management later, so I would get a degree if you can.Have you thought about maybe doing the degree part time while using your skills in the workplace, you would end up highly employable and perhaps with a better long term career plan

A large part of security is understanding servers and networks. Once you understand that, you have the building blocks to refine your knowledge and specialise in the security of it.I know a number of security consultants, and most have started off in an IT networking or servers role. There are a number of qualifications to help you start like the CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+. Maybe a couple of Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) qualifications in servers and networking. Then the CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) to help you get into the hardcore networking.Once you're at this stage, you can move into security.Hope that helpsJimmie Danielswww.itbodies.co.uk
