Anon - assuming you're working in a consulting firm that works across a number of practice areas, my strong recommendation would be to position yourself to work on projects outside FS with your existing employer. In the current climate this shouldn't be too difficult - firms will appreciate consultants who are willing and eager to be placed on whatever assignments the company wins rather than holding out for projects just in the FS space.Once you've got some other project experience on your CV that allows you to position yourself either as a generalist or as someone with expertise in a couple of different verticals then you'll be in a much better position to move without triggering a backwards step in your career. If your current employer only works in the FS sector then this is going to be trickier...Tony RestellRevitalising Your Consulting Career --- Securing a Career Move in Consulting in 2009
