Hi,Since being made redundant in January, I have been trying my best to look for jobs, both inside & outside the consulting sector.I feel that my interviewing technique is reasonably good (and am working on improving it), but there are just so few decent jobs out there & so many candidates. The whole experience is really frustrating, I've got a good education and decent feedback throughout my career, I'm willing to work very hard but all my efforts have yet to pay off.I'd appreciate any advice out there on what else I can do?

Sorry to hear about your predicament. I recommend a book called 'What colour is your parachute'. Fantastic guide to job hunting and understanding why you job hunt and what you may actually want to do instead. Get a second hand copy off amazon from the last few years if you're feeling cheap and it'll do you a world of good. No doubt others will add their two pennies worth as well.Best of luck old chap.

You are not alone. I too have good education, decent feedback throughout my career and willing to work hard. Yet I have been sat at home for 3 months...and unlike you I have had no interviews at all.

Have you considered going to work in Europe until the UK economy improves? Great, if you speak foreign languages, but in Holland and Belgium you may also be able to get by with English.Make sure that you have a well-written CV and tailor it slightly for each job that you apply for. Identify what your transferable skills are and in what jobs you can apply them.Whilst looking for a job stay up-to-speed with what is happening in your industry and also attend some further training courses if you can that may add value to your CV. It looks good as it shows that you have been proactive.Good luck and keep your chin up!
