anyone know if any firms at all are giving salary increases this year? just been told no one at our company will get a salary increase, and that this is in line with the market, so I'm keen to understand if this is true!!are even the likes of Accenture, Deloitte, KPMG etc not offering much in the way of salary increases?thanks in advance

Deloitte Consulting froze everyone's pay. KPMG froze pay, or even reduced total pay (pro-rata) for those taking reduced hours/unpaid leave. EY BAS offered a choice between reduced pay (for the same number of hours) or redundancy to some, froze pay for the others. PwC did some pay freezing for newly qualifieds - I don't know whether that extended to equivalent non-accounting grades in the Advisory businesses though.

Although probably not a top tier firm, PA Consulting were one of the very first to announce a pay freeze. No news on redundancies yet, but lots of people being “managed out”.PA always like to do things on the cheap

Not everyone at PA had a pay freeze.I got one and know others that did too. it was nothing to write home about, but in current climate was surprised

Sorry to hear thar mr man (or whatever you name is). Has the process maping, IT strategy, IT configuration, Data strategy, Data architecture, Process control, Process configuration markets all gone into terminal decline at the moment? Guess if that is the case, then nonsense employees like you will indeed need to think about alternative labourZB

I've had quite a few conversations with consultants in recent weeks, somewhat taken aback that consulting might not deliver the pay rises that many have grown accustomed to expecting. So in the days leading up to this forum post I've been writing a piece that's just now gone live:Pay increases in Consulting – the exception rather than the norm?Essentially my take on what you can expect this year. Hope you find it adds to the debate.Tony RestellTop-Consultant.com

Very interesting read Tony. I assume though that this primarily relates to within level pay rises rather than new promotes?

very few consulting cmpanies are giving salary increases unless:1. You were significantly underpaid to begin with2. You have done an absolutely outstanding job.I had to leave my consulting company to another one to get a pay rise.

There is something you have all forgotten and that is when you take on a contractor on say £650 a day they become part of your organisation. When you take on a consultancy for say £1250 / day per consultant they take almost all of the risk for late delivery, cost savings etc. as well.the decision by companies on consultancy vs contractor is almost always made on this basis, not cost !
