Dealing with rejection/failure

I've been rejected for quite a few things lately... losing pitches for work, job interviews, being the 'loser' in contests of 'one-upmanship', etc.I'm frustrated and finding it difficult to cope with this. It's like a nightmare, basically losing or failing at things time and time again.Have any of you got any advice, tips, pearls of wisdom or pick-me-ups that might help? I've tried the usual stuff like 'try and learn from the past events' but frankly I'm getting nowhere with it.

In that case there's nothing that can be done for you, I'm afraid.

It is just a job. The things out in your real life are more important. family, friends, hobbies.Contests of 'one-upmanship' sound like they are worth avoiding even at the best of times, but then that is not my thing.

You could try giving up... no seriously; you are probably a self fulfilling prophecy, already expecting to fail, and thereby not only subconsciously sabotaging your efforts but also putting a negative interpretation on events others would see as being quite usual. Also, stop looking at everything as being a competition.

1) Get used to it. Life is full of disappointments. The ones you mention seem minor. Think yourself lucky you have not had a long term illness; been disabled; gone bankrupt; had depression; been forced to look after a sick parent, seen your child die.....2) If you are always losing then you are out of your depth. Choose contests you can win and treat the tougher contests as a challenge.
