Hi. I work for a run of the mill consultancy, as a mid-ranking consultant doing the usual stuff - reports, charts, analysis, workshops, etc for pretty much anything and everything they chuck at me. More IT stuff than anything else (no surprise there).Like many people, I got zero pay rise this year. I need more cash. Any ideas for stuff I can do to earn a little extra cash on the side? And how to go about obtaining such work too?p.s. I'm thinking of stuff that utilises my professional skills rather than renting out my bum hole, before people come up with the obvious 'answers'. OK, I knew I was going to get these types of replies to some extent!Basically I've been a consultant for about 8 years and have all the "skills" (or lack thereof, however you want to look at it) that you would expect from that kind of career path. My academic background is a 2.1 in philosophy, politics and economics at oxford, but quite frankly I can't remember even the most trivial little facts or theories from the course. It went in one ear, and then on the day I graduated, out the other! Sort of like GCSE German. I guess I could offer tuition, but I would be totally out of touch with the syllabus. I could offer real practical advice, but sadly the finer details of who said what theory and when (aka 'references') is gone from my memory now (basically it was just clutter in my mind anyway).moneysavingexpert.com is great but it all seems to be about cutting costs. My cost base is already at its lower limit - I run a tight ship.I guess what I'm looking for is somewhere I can get a few freelance assignments that I can do in the evenings or weekends. Do what I did - set up a brothel.I initially used a spare room in my house with one active masseur in attendance for 3 hours a night. Now I rent out two houses each of which contains 5 ladies working 24-7. Admittedly this side-of-desk activity may make things a bit hard for you to concentrate fully on your consultancy work as the number of working ladies increases, but I'm now pulling in an extra $65,000 a week. So can you!

Perhaps im out of touch, but im looking to do some day trading if/when i get into the world of consulting. Thats mainly out of interest, but i suppose you could explore a little CFD or spread trading? Medium to Long term investing? You could perhaps even use some of the skills you've picked up in IT and start up a little earner of your own?

Interesting thread - takes a bit to get me out of the woodwork these days. Let me say this, the vast majority of you ACN, PA people are nothing more than generic process mapping, IT strategy, IT configuration, IT transformation, IT architecture, Change Management, Project Management, PMO types. You have the following hard skills:- use powerpoint (adequately at best, the guy here at MBBB do much better slides that you sub standard lot)- basic/average excell skills, again nohing like the quant or financial modelling stuff that IB or MBBB does- the ability to write volumous and turgid reports (again badly)To surmise - none of you charlatans have any skills worth anything..all you are are a source of flexible labour for the real economy.I've seen plenty of MBBB go into commercial roles at the top of the biggest corporations - I've yet to see anyone do that from ACN or thier ilk.
