Advice on EY BAS

redundant

I used to work for a tier 1 strat house at junior manager level. Have recently been made redundant. My recruitment consultant came with a role at EY BAS - but getting a little worried after reading all the posts here.Would I be better off siting at home (and continuing to hunt for a better job) rather than trying for EY BAS? There are no immediate cash flow issues.

Radical idea ... go for an interview and form an opinion off the back of that rather than an anonymous forum where, let's face it, most posters don't let the facts get in the way of a good whinge

Better a bird in the hand, however BAS are really struggling in many sectors just now. It's a risky time to join them, but its better than a stint in the Job Centre. Even if BAS does fold, there is no shame in being made redundant in the current marketplace. Why not go through the EY interview process, and keep applying elsewhere?

It can't hurt to take the interview, but keep looking. It'll also look better to your recruitment consultant if you're willing to take the interview before telling him/her that you're not interested. It'll give him/her credit with the client to have brought in a good candidate, but he can truthfully claim that they were the ones who "turned off" the candidate. He'll then be more willing to try again to find you something better.

In recent times BAS, have become very heavily reliant on the public sector. This work has now also started to dry up.No harm in applying for a job for the interview practice, but I'd really think you could do a lot better, even in the current environment

Any idea of salaries at Snr Consultant level? Do they compare favourably with the rest of the big four?

They compare. Not favourably. They just compare. Are you looking at a BAS job advertised as "senior consultant" or a "real" senior consultant (BAS "senior manager") post.

The earlier post for the salary was not from me. That is not my biggest concern. Thanks for all the advice - I will talk to BAS and keep you updated on what transpires. Thanks again.
