The Bonus Notifications start from tomorrow - Let post rough figures so that we get an idea of where we stand. Rough % figures from last year : Rating 1 = No bonusRating 2 = 10-20%Rating 3 = 20-30%Rating 4 = 30+These are averages of course - For people who are on the top or bottom of the pay-band for a grade, this might vary.

Bonus bands are likely to be similar, but expect somewhere in the region of 20% of staff to get a 1 rating, with 50 – 60% getting a 2. The result is that only 25% of staff (those getting a 3 or 4) will get any sort of worthwhile bonus. Also note that the bonus percentage is grossly overstated, and based on prior year average earnings, not your current salary. It is also stated gross of employers NI, deferred element, and tax at top rate. The net result is that the net cash figure is only about 40% of the gross number.Yet another way for PA to shortchange their staff.

Of the factors you describe, the biggest impact comes from you having to pay your income tax and NI.You are an idiot. You would have to pay income tax whichever firm you were at. This is not some PA conspiracy. Go live in Sealand if you don't like it.

Jeez. Talk about an A-hole !!Let’s face facts here: the company massively over-inflate the bonus figure, not only by basing the figure on average prior year basic salary, rather than the year end figure but also by deducting income tax at 40% (irrespective of whether or not you are paying tax at top or standard rate), lobbing off employer’s national insurance, and deferring a large part of the bonus for more than three years. If you are happy for the company to muck you over like this and deduct employers National Insurance while deferring a large part of your bonus, then I think it may well be you who is the idiot sir.I’d just like to see a bit of honesty from my employers. Is that too much to ask?

The terms of the bonus are very clearly laid out so I don't understand what your beef is, apart from that you want more money. Here's a little secret from the big boys' locker room (just for you, sport). Everyone would like to be paid more; those who pull their finger and do some work rather than bawling do get paid more.

To be fair, if you've been at PA a few years, the share options and restricted shares you get, which are not quoted in the "headline" amount, offset the employers tax bit. Share option margin well over £5 per share this year.

Won't name my practice, but nearly 40% on a 4. Most people I've met have been happy this year, a lot have said it's the best bonus they've had.Now we only need to get rid of the various corporate idiots making life hard for people to try and justify their own existence, life should improve after that.

I'd love to contribute to this discussion, but it appears that I've saved my salary letter on a memory stick which I can no longer find.If anyone comes across a red memory stick in 123, can you please let me know ? I might be in a bit of trouble if it doesn't turn up soon.

BOP-er put a sock in it. no doubt you are a process mapping, IT strategy, data configuration charlatan like your ACN brethren.Go and talk to me about the vitues of level 1, level 2 processes, unreadable visio diagrams, turgid bulletpoint-ridden power point slides.I've seen your work in the obscure parts of local government, and quite frankly, the words horse manure and what the point come to mindZB

Err well doesn't that go to show how incredibly unequal the bonus system is operating at PA - I'm sure there are quite a few who scored 4 but received closer to 30% bonus (inc me).The bonus is touted as an incentive for good performance but when the levels are so arbitrary it's difficult for anyone to make the link between actual performance and reward. The recent statutory redundancy terms underline what a shambles PA is!

Um, there's £250k of corporate overhead right there that could be easily cut. Didn't think VR was part of this process but thanks anyway. And the savings could be used to double the package for the hundred or so people due for the chop.

Yup - that 30% is before the deferred element and employer's national insurance and is based on your annual salary for the prior year, not your year end salary. So 30% gross will equate to about 12% net. What a load of lost memory sticks

With sales and profits collapsing this year, and pay cuts on the horizon to rub salt in the wound of the redundancies, I think talk of bonus for the current year is pretty well nonsense.

I don't know what all the fuss is about. I have full confidence in the Board to do the best thing for the company and for the employees. They care deeply about all of us.PA Consulting will rise like a phoenix from the ashes out of this, and will be bigger than Accenture next year.I predict 100% bonuses all round
