Hi former Accenture people, Of those of you who took VR in December, what are your feelings on your decision now? have you managed to find work? Are you regretting it?Any advice for us Accenture folk now that there is a 2nd round?

Regret: None whatsoever. But.... I wanted out before the redundancies came along so had been interviewing and had job offers before that. I think the hardest part was trying to convince the SE in my project to let me go!I do however know a couple of people who took VR and have not found work. So you ask what about now? If I was still with ACN I would be wary of leaving now, there is not much out there, but that's my feeling and I have a family to support.

I have no regrets about taking VR but I had contract work lined up which I am still working in and will be until at least end July.I'd consider very carefully about leaving now, The market has gone down hill since end 2008.Lots of places have a recuitment freeze on and I heard from agencies that they are seeing 5 x as many applications for a single contract as they were 6 months ago and since agencies can only submit 1 or 2 CV's for a role then the competition really is tough.I'd work out what the package is and if you can afford not to work for the rest of the year it may still be viable for you.

I got out in the original VR programme as I had been unhappy for some time (try since I had joined the firm 2 years before) and wanted a change of direction - had the economic climate been good I would have looked for another job in 2009 and gone then but the VR package was too good to turn down. Once I started seriously looking for a job after Christmas, it took me all of 3 weeks! There are jobs out there - it just takes persistence and some pestering of recruitment consultants. The DBM outplacement service Accenture offer is amazing - the advisors really know what they are talking about and help you to see things from a different perspective. If you are not happy at ACN and want a career change now is the time to do it - GET OUT!!!

Thanks for the replies so far.can you tell us a bit more about the DBM outplacement service? What do they do and how long do you get to spend with the advisor? Is the support that helpful in changing directions?I'm an analyst (1.5 years at ACN) and unsure what to do - know ACN isnt for me so VR is incredibly appealiing, but not sure what I want to go onto do next.

Analyst I'm the same so you're not alone and I'm sure there's others. Been here just over 2 years now as an analyst and considering leaving but the job market is already tight and considering there's about to be another 600 folk from accenture competing for the few jobs that are there I'm not sure leaving is sensible. Staying, however, makes my heart sink.

It would be great if they could offer sabbaticals so we can at least have a job to get back to if things dont work out - you're lucky you have 2 years under your belt. There are a lot of us out there, especially with promotion situation. Even being granted VR may be quite tough this year....

I took VR in Dec - hated ACN so was great to get paid to leave.Got a contract in Jan and have been there since.A note of caution - the Accenture brand is not a passport to lucrative contract work - lots of employers do not rate Accenture staff that highly.
