I am a contractor with a healthy pipeline of work for the year. As with most of my peers, keeping skills honed and up to date is a challenge - goes with the territory but puts me at a disadvantage compared to permies and their paid training.I need to get Prince 2 or MSP certified - partly for the CV, partly to formalise what I have learnt and iron out bad habits. Can anybody recommend a good training provider in London or the Thames Valley?

I did an MSP course with this co last year and they were impressive.http://www.the-pso.com/I also heard good things about their P2 training.I have no vested interest in the co although I did work with the MD - Peter Weaver - on an NHS programme and he was top notch.

I did Prince2 down at 'Learning Tree' in London, they were very good. Week long course and you get both levels accredited following the exams. Id recommend them. They are located across the road from Euston station, London.J

http://www.wpm-group.co.uk are another for Prince2. High pass rates and decent price. Its worth getting the book a few weeks before you do it though. Foundation is easy, practitioner requires a bit more effort if you do both in 4.5 days.

PRINCE2 is a joke, anyone that can read can get it, If you are a real PM why not look at doing PMI's PMP certification. Its roughly the same price and is seen as a proper PM qualification.

Surely that depends on your target market? Government thinks highly of PRINCE2 (make of that what you will) so if you're after public sector work, PRINCE2 is a good thing. If you're after private sector work then perhaps something else might be better?

Of the projects I have managed at public sector clients (DWP, HMRC, DVLA) not one of them has used PRINCE2 ! It is useful if you are doing security cleared MOD projects but it seems a bit of a waste of time to get a qualification for such a specialist market.
