ACN Offer?

Hi,Recently been made an offer for ACN Solutions; I got this offer as a result of doing a placement but am unsure of whether I should accept. I am currently doing a business/IT degree. I am also studying for my CIMA as I am keen to either going down the management consulting route or business (FS) route in industry.I have been through the ACN consulting recruitment but failed to get in (wasn’t too impressed with the recruitment). As solutions is very IT focused I was wondering whether it would be a good career move to accept? Would this been seen as a red mark against me?Thanksadvice

Take the offer and look for something else at the same time. If you find a better offer then take it. Deloitte are keen on CIMA so try there and the likes of PWC, KPMG etc. Also if you join Acn make sure you get some credit for the experience you gained in your placement.

thanks for your reply.would joining solutions mean I couldn't move into a more business focused area in the future; after couple of years there? Is it a case of some experience at a top firm is better than none?

Solutions is not ideal but in a credit crunch a bird in the hand is worth two in the cage. People from ACN have gone on to hold good positions at other consultancies, Equities divisions in IB, Telco operators and other FTSE 100 top companies. The majority of these ex ACNers have been consulting but some have been solutions. The real truth is in Solutions, you get what you negotiate so if you let them offer you a low package then they will.If you want to move on to better things then I would not stay more than 3.5 years with ACN.
