Hi All, I just needed some advice regarding my situation. I was an international student who graduated from a top university in 2006. I since took up a job with an automotive firm where I worked for one year. I had a visa issue so had to leave the job and I have been working part time for the past year. I came here (UK) because I wanted to get have an international career and a graduate job was my obvious choice. I have tried really hard especially in the past year to get into a top graduate scheme but of no avail even though I have gotten to the assessment centre stage of each one of them. Obviously, because of the work permit problem I can only apply to a few places. Its disheartening as all places I have applied to have progressed me to the assessment centre stage which means I have a few things going for me. I am on the verge of giving up and going back to my home country to start things afresh. I hope nobody feels this is a rant but I do need some perspective or advice or anything constructive anyone can come up with. Thanks

The availability of Visa's will be slim, but I would not advocate going back to your own country as things are about to get really bad in BRIC (I mean horribly bad) as any country based on servicing the UK/USA will start to unwind in the face of the decisions that the UK/USA will make in January (Margins will be close to zero).It may be a bit grim just now, but once we enter a phase of quantitative easing there will be jobs in the UK, mostly in R&D, which should suit you.
