i went to the mcg test match...was good to see someone else win for a change.The fact is australia have never really fully recovered when some of their best players retired ( warne and gilchrist). Hayden will soon follow ( i'm pretty sure that scg will be his last test match, after which he will take voluntary retirement irrespective of results).Australia still have good younger players, and under the stewardship of ponting will continue to be one of the leading teams ( just might not win em all as they used to).

Ponting's stewardship is uninspiring and part of the problem (which is great to watch).From here on in, until they find match winning bowlers they will struggle to beat the likes of SA and India.England and even Pakistan (if they bring their A game and the precious Australians deem the country safe enough to tour) are now well matched against Australia.Yet most of their players and fans remain so arrogant!
