I'm curious to know what other careers people have moved on to after leaving consulting. What other career paths have your friends or former colleagues taken after leaving?

Of my ex-colleagues, one has joined the London Development Agency, working with large London corporates to drive certain initiatives; another has joined the London Olympic Committee (LOCOG), his previous client, leading a workstream in Technology; another has become a Director of a new estate agency. So there are options out there...I am currently asking myself the same question, and so would be very interested in other peoples opinions. In particular...once you decided what it was you wanted to do, what approach did you take to land your dream role?

Consulting has to be the only "profession" in which people spend so much time wondering what (other) job to do next and plotting how they might get there.Speaks volumes, really.

It's also the only 'profession' that doesn't require any professional qualifications or certification of competence.
