bumpcome on guys, with 20% bench and redundancies on their way, I'd expect you to be browsing the web, including TC, so see what's happening in the wider world!!!

What announcement ? I work in a related area but not in CS and apart from the usual holiday messages, haven't seen anything. Has CS come in for any specific action ?

I heard Accenture was on 40% bench a month ago... 20% bench sounds relatively healthy!

But 20% for an internal consultancy is very high

For a consulting practice ( internal or external) running at 80% of capacity is unhealthy over the long term. A 20% bench would certainly not be cause for concern as this should be used for things like collateral creation and training in any decent consulting operation.

That all depends on how you calculate utilisation - internal consultancies do not have anywhere near as great a requirement for sales/business development time and most intellectual capital development, training counts towards utilisation. 20% benchtime means working 9-5 and still only having enough to fill four days of the week.

Any consultancy I've ever worked for would kill for an 80% overall utilisation outturn
