following on from ZB's incessent diatribes against all things to with process mapping et al. Do you think that clients will wise up to the reality that emploing consultants to simply dear boxes, arrows, decisions oxes in visio is hardly value-adding and merely is a form of implicit socialism, whereby business feels it has a responsibility to keep consultants on the pay roll.

Hi there,I don´t think, that this is dead. It is merely a question whether to keep consultancies on the payroll which are delivering concepts (ppt, visio, and others) which sound pretty good, but aren´t suitable or not being implemented.In these economical times, companies have to invest in improving their processes in order to gain more flexibility and transparency and to be able to keep the risks unter control.

I can understand ZBs disregard for the IT charlatans, but not his tirades against process mapping.I'm Acn myself and as a rule tend to find that the charlatans are way too self important for their roles and generally do not have the capacity to understand the functional specitications they are supposed to be configuring.However process mapping is very much a continuation of the high level strategy stuff. It is potentially high value work, but often the client does not have the balls to implement / or does not implement properly - at which point they call us back in again to help!Long live process mapping!

if clients had process maps we wouldn't need to map the processes would we! Duh! And if they understood all their processes we wouldn't be needed either! Duh! Duh! And if they could make the improvements and take actions we would have no profession! Duh! Duh! Duh!
