Hello anon, very deep IT-focus and more or less large implementation projects. The last years were very tough, rumours said, Siemens will sell this department. They´re going through internal reorga right now. If your focus is IT and you like decent and layed-back attitudes it´s not the worst place to be.If you want to do business consulting on management issues my advice is to keep out.Look on the HP where they describe their latest projects...pretty good snapshot of day to day business

They're now called Siemens Information Services. The main consulting operation in the UK (Global Media Consulting) is very focused on media, in terms of broadcast and digital production. SIS UK’s largest client is the BBC, with SIS having bought the old BBC Technology (along with a massive outsourcing contract) 4 years ago. The Media team focuses on IT projects & pre-sales (including the process side of things). They’re picking up work around the world on the back of digital production. Sale rumours have been on & off for a while - but it’s probably unlikely SIS will sell them as they’re bringing in other work. It’s true that if you want to do business consulting on mgmt issues, then it’s the wrong place. If you want to work on media projects, especially digital production & distribution then it’s a good place to be.

Sorry I don't know but do not expect much of a payrise once you are in the door. Also they are up for disposal and this is not boosting moral amongst long term Siemens staff. Highly skilled staff will be fine...there is always the open market.Google "siemens carve out sis" and you will see the plan for disposal. If I were you I'd find out about the projects they want you to work on and how long their underlying client contracts last.

it's for a Solution Architect role, my worry is that they can't function as a stand alone unit, too small for a global player, too large a niche player. and will ens up in some merger. Is it high risk to join now? thanks.

yes you are; they cannot function as stand alone unit and will be subject to merger. Forget an IPO no bank would under right the lisiting. It'll be a disposal/merger/JV.From your quote "too small for a global player, too large a niche player" you have been reading the press. Is it high risk? Well they need solution architects in order to bid for new work; maybe you have read "major deal team" which is focusing on new big ticket business. To me the MDT is a basic sales ploy to try and get a few deals won then disposal. So there will be work, but I'm told that they made some sol arch redundant at the end of last year and now they find they need them!Moral is the issue.....and car parking.anything else?
