Seeing as banks not wanting to lend to each other is the problem, an easy solution is for them all to merge into a single behemoth. And since "the bigger they are the harder they fall" is spot on (AIG being a case in point), all this consolidation is taking us along the merry road towards some ginormous falls. But instead of domain names, can anyone suggest appropriate re-branded names for: - JP Morgan Chase Bear Stearns - United States of American International Group - Bank of America Merrill Lynch - Barclays Lehman - Halifax Bank of Scotland Lloyds TSB - Morgan Stanley Wachovia - Goldman ? (who has yet to buy a broker dealer?)PS. Can someone please explain why banks need to lend to each other in the first place? If they're all lending to each other, why don't they just use their own cash? Sounds like a pyramid to me.
