HSBC just announced (internally) a 10% blanket redundancy round in the London Office. If the yanks don't pull their finger out soon there will be nothing left to consult on....

that's a share price impacting number, and so a pretty serious assertion - are you sure of your source?

So it looks like your sources were right. Quite a big chunk out of the London office.

Dear grad, if your in India then dont worry. If your in the uk then the following has happened:1. Automobiles - Cheaper abroad2. Science - Let the french do it3. Technology - Thats Indian4. Banking - oo we will keep that5. What can we do? sell houses to each other?6. Oh boollcks no good jobs left7. No need for consultants here8. Go learn a science9. Now consulting moves into new fuels etc10. No your qualifications mean nothing11. Yes India/France have qualified consultants12. Who will buy your house? Its happened/been happening since the late 1980's. we all knew it would lead to this.

I'm quite pleased that it's happened. Obviously it's terrible for those who have lost their jobs etc but frankly it's about time this country focused on creating stuff of value rather than basically suckering us all into an over-hyped Ponzi scheme.
