Much of the chat on this board is directed at salary and making cash. Fair enough. The usual way of thinking to get high salary is this:- Front office IB- Partner at consultancy firm- Partner at accountancy firm- Start your own b'ness.All these are understandable, given the scope of the forum, but I was wondering if anyone has other ideas/plans, especially for those coming from a consultancy/ finance background as many people here, including myself, do?

- Director in a listed company - Insurance broker - Sports star: golf, F1, footie - Pimp / whore (or does that count as running your own business?) - Sell: cars, houses - Headhunt - Stick some dead animals in formaldehyde

- Sell your own body organs (anything of which you have 2?)- Sell someone else's body organs (popular with the Chinese Govt I understand)- Crime/Fraud (provided you don't get caught - oh hang on, that's already covered in Front Office IB)

Borrow a tenner from someone more successful.Colour photocopier.thank me later.

Or strike oil.Or gold.

Knock together some crappy auction website over the weekend, fill it with management buzzwords and then sell it to some greedy venture capitalists for £300M.Oh wait, that was 1999. Not sure if it would still work. Might do?

More seriously, how about using your finance skills in an emerging market? eg UAE, India ?

Insurance broking = sales + admin and average salary unless a name at Lloyds. Then, if you're lucky it can go extremely well. Otherwise a line job as a broker - not much cop.
