Hi all, I really need some advice.I have just been offered a new job working for a small and growing consultancy firm which I really believe in with some excellent career prospects. The only problem is that they are not prepared to increase my salary beyond what I earn at the moment (my consultant has been really poor in the negotiations) Im 27 and earn 47k as a consultant and have no hope of a sizeable salary increase in my current role until I am promoted (not expected to be for 3 years)What should I do, stay and earn the same salary but potentially use my new offer as leverage for more or leave for a new company but with no increase, thanks in advance

Don't move for less than 15-20%

If you are not going to get a promotion where you are for 3 years (and hence no pay rise for 3 years), then what is the issue? Besides, it is far far easier to make traction and quick progress when you are new to an organisation, so you should find that moving for parity you will be looking at a promotion in the new firm within a year if you are any good. Make the move and don't look back.
