Depends: spelling is a key criteria to move to Consultant level, at which point they add up how many MBAs you have. I suggest 6 is the min amount.

On average it should take about 4 years to go from a AC1 to a C1. However, a lot depends on an individual's ability. Some have made it in just 2 years.

Hi. Are Bain hiring currently at Associate/Senior Associate Consultant Level in London? Do you have a Recruitment Bounty Scheme? Fancy making some money?

Bain is recruiting as normal. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend you as I simply do not know you. I think it would not be very 'Bain like' or responsible of me to do so. Good luck with your application nevertheless.

Hi there, I am considering a career in Consulting and Bain is on the top of my list but I would like to meet some employees from the firm, before going through the application form. Do you know how I can contact someone and have a chat? Thanks a lot

How to meet people
30.08.8 00:00

Stand outside their office building. When someone walks out wearing a suit and carrying a laptop bag, grab them, knock them out with your choloform-soaked sponge and bundle them into your van. Take them back to your basement room beneath your parents home, tie them to a chair and interrogate them using your CSI home lie-detector kit. Grab a few and practice your taxidermy skills - just because they rejected your application, doesn't mean you can't work at Bain - the office will just have to come to you.

And if that won't work you could always aim even higher and go into 'Events Management Consultancy"...

First of all, Bain hasn't rejected my application so I wouldn't find sensible to do as suggested by "how to meet people". Thanks to Anon and Mars a day for their suggestions.

Start smoking.Worked for me, to gain insight into several firms I stood outside the offices and spoke with the firms 'smokers' who frequently pop out for a quick smoke. You'll end up chatting to people from all areas, some are discrete but others will tell you what the culture is like, the people, the amount of pretty women and what the last xmas party was like...honestly they love a good chat with a smoke!

In every place I've worked at I've gone prior to interviews to see what I can find out.First like is 'do you work here'....followed by 'what it like' and then start digging for information nice and lightly.Course you'll get those who will moan a bit about it and others will be say 'great place to work' or tell you if they invest in training and such like. It all depends on who you talk too, and if they like the look of you basically.

If you want to know about Bain then feel free to ask and I will answer to the best of my ability. In general, Bain is like you would read about in some vault guide. If you are interested in the detail then I will try and answer and will try and be objective and give you the bad with the good.Starting with the good, one of the simplest ways to get a feel about the working environment at Bain was what I heard a female colleague say, "I felt more comfortable working at Bain after 2 months than I did at my previous job after a year (accounting Big 4)."That does not mean to say that everyone has the same positive experience but I hope that most do.

Thanks to you both. Bainee- can we exchange the emails addresses in anyway, so I can ask you some more detailed questions. Yeah I do understand that you can get a different answer from each individual, but it's good to get a feel of the job.Cheers

In the hope that I can provide some useful information I have created the email below. topconbainee@googlemail.comHowever, as the forum is anonymous I strongly urge you to use it to ask your questions. I am sure that any question asked with good cause is worth answering and will be useful for someone.
