A wonderful acerbic thread by yours truly..."Not much more I'm afraid, given cost pressures, uncertain and sinusoidal market sentiment, gyrating capital flows and the belated but insightful realisation that project management, change management, IT strategy, IT architecture, IT sourcing, process mapping, process optimisation charlatans are NOT really worth much value to client, particularly clients with a modicum of business consciousness and economic literacy. But I dare say the ACN fraternity would have an opposing view" ZB

This is not ZB. As ZB knows that these people are esentially the tools the consultant/salesman puts in to fulfil his vision. Therefore if handled correctly these people provide value to the client and a bonus and new work to the consultant.Unless you offshore all of them, in which cae they provide no value, just a cheap source of blame. Both are good, but again the real ZB would not have posted such a badly framed argument.

ZB, I would estimate c90% of Acn are the types of charlatans you dislike so much.I am part of the other 10%, but stuck on a project dominated by the charlatans! I am constantly fighting the urge to tell my PMO to f**k off, although did finally get it through his thick skull that EV reporting is worthless for MC projects where the end state isn't even fully defined so a minor victory.Other than leave (which I do plan to do in the medium term), have you got any advice to me for how I can cope in the meantime?

hehe...this is infact the real ZB...no one writes like him; has a very distinctive writing style that very hard to copy. Read ZB's prev threads and you can see the writing style is in fact the same.Welcome back ZB. By the way, I am one of the charlatons you speak off. I like my job bullshiiting to clients and generally fleecing their money. Makes me feel good and am respected by my mgt for it too.

"am respected by my mgt"Yeah, but let's face it, you're not respected by yourself or anyone else significant if you're working in IBM Global Services.

Yes indeed comrades this is the inimitable, unique and devillishly insightful ZB. Back from a well-earned break from the sun-shine state in the US. I've been checking my emails and see I have a RfP which details some process mapping, IT architecture, IT strategy work, IT sourcing and IT..whatever work. Just wondering if any ACNs are out there to provide me with some help as to what exactly is all this stuff actually means and its relevance in everyday commerce. I suspect the former is probably more easily answered than the latter.ZB

IT architecture, IT strategy work, IT sourcing, etc is all part of the McKinsey BTO portfolio so don't limit your question to ACN/IBM/Cap/etc.
