What sort of career paths I could I work in within IT if I do not have a comp sci or IT related degree. I know software programme would be impossible but what other areas would be open to me?

Is ZB on his holidays?

Either that or he has run out of lubricantsTo put his point in a slighly more polite and less wordy way ........... this is a management consultant forum - threads like these are irrelevant and dilute attention from the other interesting debates which develop

Definately possible to enter IT Consulting in the UK without an IT related degree.I know for a fact that Capgemini BTC will take you if you're good enough. Without a technical background it's unlikely that you'll end up as an EA however, more likely a functional consultant, project manager etc.

ZB is on holidays...but his message is equally applicable to IT consulting: It's dominated by guys like acn and ibm; real charlatans that claim they can use IT as a competitive strategic tool.

Even ZB agrees that you cant do much without IT, his point is that "IT consultancy" activities like coding, configuring SAP and whatever else you tecchies do to fill your day is not Management Consultanting work and should not be compared to it.BTW a charlatan is "a person who pretends to more knowledge or skill than he or she possesses" which just about sums up you IT geeks pretending to be management consultants!

"A person who pretends to more knowledge than he or she possesses". Now that would never apply to a management consultant....
