Workstation Memory Load

Hi,Is it true that a workstation requires less memory for running applications when connected to a server than it would normally standing on its own?I would have thought this is total rubbish. The scenario I am talking about - is WindowsXP Pro workstations running Office etc locally stored on the workstation drives. But it is connected to a 2003 Server through domain + user accounts where it pulls its data and DB from. Thanks, Mark

Instead of being dumb - why not try being smart?**Smart in this case is defined as knowing the appropriate sources to acquire/request information.Would you walk into a catholic church expecting the priest to know intricate details of Hinduism?

Well this is a forum for IT consultants no?Answer - not likely but really depends on the system architecture. If it is only MS Office standard apps then one doubts it is, at least not significantly. Why not measure it?

Seriously, this is an NVQ level 2 question - my disabled little brother is studying it. Despite his learning difficulties, even he knows there are more appropriate places to look for this information (like the textbook).

Erm... Actually it's not an IT consultant's forum, it's a general consulting CAREER forum. So please ask questions that are relevant. Don't you think that the answer would be better sourced elsewhere (try googling it, much simpler - I just did and got the answer in seconds)

The consultants that run this forum done it on the cheap TOP IT CONSULTANT links to this forum, there is no seperate forum so this IS the right place to ask these type of questions.Silly..

Relevant for IT consulting CAREER questions though - definitely not the place for line 1 technical support
