I am a recent postgraduate with a MA degree in Technology, Innovation and Knowledge. My career gold is to start working with strategic CSR and sustainable services. I need some advice re which companies to approach. Which consultancies in London focus on these issues? Thank you!

There are specialist consultancies though I've only seen the job adverts via agencies so can't name specific firms (sorry, not very helpful I know).More to the point, all the accounting Big 4 (PwC, Deloitte, KPMG, E&Y) have CSR practices which they are growing hard, based around services such as environmental audits and business cases for CSR initiatives.

If you're serious, try the environmental consultancies (Enviros, RPS, Entec etc), forget about the accounting firms and the management consultancies unless you are into greenwashhttp://www.endsdirectory.com/

BT also has a sustainability practiceMy career concern with dedicated "environmental" consultancies is that they only work on pre-defined "environmental" issues and miss the business context. Therefore, exposure and projects tend to be limited to clients in the natural resources/refining industries.

Unlike my cynical friend above, I wouldn't bin the big4 accountancies & bluesky MCs, personally. You'll get good training, and a good network of contacts; if you do well, after a few years you'll then be able to pick & choose your environmental consultancy or in-house CSR group to join. Can be tough to find a route in to those groups without previous experience, though - very popular places to be for the socially conscientious oxbridge crowd atm.Other options you could consider are DEFRA / Environment Agency / govt think tanks.
