I do wish people could simply tell the truth about their experience. If you have done something for 5 years, then it does not make things sounds better to say significantly more particularly if these things are easily checked by a google search. Is it because we are all so insecure that we don't think the truth is enough or does our industry simply breed lies?

Consultancy firms tend to sell their work by exaggerating their achievements. Same goes for potential consultancies going for an interview; they tend to exaggerate their own achievements and results. In an interview or the process of selling work make sure you know what you are talking about and can answer the questions (of the potential buyer or interviewer). Big lies will be discovered and you will end up nowhere; don't be too afraid to admit your flaws.
