One for fellow MC recruiters/HHs -what is the market for us like at the moment? I am looking at moving so interested to see if the market is bouyant for search and selection recruiters at present? Greyskull?

i think that the market is a bouyant market for those in search & selection, as opposed to general recruitment - clients are being a lot more specific about filling business critical roles and as such they are turning to their top seacrh firms for delivery - this market really helps to distinguish those at the very top of their game.

I think as a recruiter it is better to make a move in a bad market, when your billings are likley to be lower, and hence the commision "hit" when you join the new company will be lower.the market is slow, despite what the reports on here say - Accenture, IBM, and many others all have hiring freezes in numerous areas.

Public Sector search is bonkers, there is so much work about although you do need to work within a specialist PS Search firm. I made the move last year from prof services and don't regret it one bit!

Isn't it difficult to secure a role in another rec firm if your billings are down? In my experience they all ask for your current and projected billings. Are firms likely to acknowledge the fact that we are all being hit with a slow market?
