Hi All,I will soon have my first round interview at Bain(Germany). I need a little help since I am not a Business Major but studied Biology. What things do the interviewers really pay attention to at Bain? Are frameworks required or are they sick of hearing about SWOT, 5 Forces and its better to argue with your common sense?I am aware of the usual procedure of personal fit interview followed by 2 case studies, but any other insight that might be helpful is really appreciated. Thanks a lotMS

Hi there,I had interviews with Bain in Italy. I can tell you what was my experience, assuming that the differences are not so big..For what concerns personal fit, it is a bit different from McK. You will not be asked 30 question on leadership and so on. Most likely they will just ask you why Bain, why u wanna be a consultant and so on. That said, I think they pay more attention on how you behave during the case studies.Case studies are pretty quantitative. Actually, the first manager instead of case study gave me a bunch of brainteasers. Nothing especially difficult if you are prepared for the interview. The other two managers insisted on guesstimates, I had about 3 of them and they were pretty quantitative. Only the last case involved some SWOT and the likes.Summing up, be prepared for guesstimates since most of your interview will be based on them. SWOT and the likes will be useful just for the interviews w/Partners.Hope it helps!

hi ms,i actually went through the exact same situation as yours, a science major (physics) interviewing with bain in munich.you will have three interviews, one fit-based with a small case (~15 min.), and then two more extensive cases, one of which will be conducted in english.as far as the cases go, it is similar to what you would encounter elsewhere as well. market sizing, profitability yadayada ...that being said, i found the whole interview process enjoyable, more so than at bcg and mck. the dedicated fit-interview can only work for your advantage as an exotic, you really can show them that you are serious about consulting. they believe you are smart enough anyways, otherwise they would not have invited you, but i believe they value if you can present yourself with sincerity and maturity and know what you're getting yourself into. don't try to dazzle the interviewer, make it clear that you know it is a hard job and that you are looking forward to the training they can offer you with your non-business background.cheers, andy

Hey Andy,Thanks for the info, was very helpful so far. I will also be going to the Munich office. Can you give me some examples of your case questions.I know they are all very similar and most likely very quantitative. You can mail them to me if you like:markopolo72@hotmail.comWould really appreciate the help.ThanksMSPS. Did you get/take the job?
