I have completed a competency based interview for an associate role within the performance consulting area. i now have online tests to do and have been booked into their assessment centre. Maths is not my strongest area and i am concerned that my downfall might be these tests. however i have been told that each step is independent and that i will still have the assessment centre regardless of my results. if i shine at the assessment centre, will my test results not be as important? Thanks

That's the idea. They usually have some absolute minimum benchmark for the psychometrics but assuming that's met the assessment centre will be more critical for differentiating candidates and determining which get offers.

Usually the questions that come up in these tests are fairly easy, so you're really tested how quickly you can think on your feet, which means the methods you use at arriving on your answers are crucial.Make sure you brush up basics, like percentages. Also, there are lots of books out there that help you practice for these types of exams. Just search for "Psychometric tests".

Just this week I've also heard that I'm being invited to the PwC performance consulting assoc assessment centre. I also was worried about the maths test, so thanks for the reassurance. I am definitely more confident about my assessment centre abilities.

Maths isn't my strongest area but I actually found the numeracy test not too difficult. It isn't arranged so that the hardest questions are at the end, but rather it's quite mixed up. I was worried when with just two minutes left there were still four questions left. However, I found that the final two were really easy, so my advice is not to spend too long on anything. As for the logic test, it was a pattern-finding exercise where you decide which jumble of boxes, lines, triangles and circles fits the succession. I've done these tests before but found PwC's extremely difficult. If I get notification of a pass or fail, I'll let you all know.

Still not sure how I did on the online tests as apparently all people who do these tests go on to the assessment centre regardless of their scores.I've only done one assessment centre before, but PwC's was a bit tougher and the competition all seemed formidable. I feel I did as well as I could have at the assessment centre but the PIC graduate job just seemed so amazing, as did the company, that it would almost feel like winning the lottery to get the job.

Yes, I partook in the assessment centre last week as well! It was quite challenging but was relieved to find out that I got in today! I'm so happy.. I must say that the salary was a little less than I expected though. Anyone else on here been accepted and has a view on this?JJ

JJ: I wonder if we were at the same assessment centre last week. I haven't heard anything yet though so they must not be as sure about me as they are about you, or else I'm just further down their call list.

Hey JJ:My assessment centre was last Thursday and they said they'd let us know by the end of this week. No I haven't heard anything. Probably they've forgotten about me. Perhaps my nervous anticipation will have to go on indefinitely.

Hello all,I messaged a while back about the numerical tests for PIC at PwC and thought I would check back! Just to let you know that I got in too and the comment that somebody else made about winning the lottery, its more the Euro Millions mate!! The salary for the position is dependent on your experience, I was advised that everyone would not have the same salary. However regardless of what you have, I think it is key that this is only a starting point and the opportunities to progress and really make an impact depend on you. I also found out only 17 people were successful out of the 58 who went through the assessment centre. The whole process from the application stage through to the final partner interview was tough and I feel that will reflect in the people they have chosen.Smile :)
