Hi - I'm an experienced IT consultant (9 years IT advisory work) with offers from both these teams (London). I'm struggling to decide which team to join and would appreciate any input w.r.t how these practices stack-up i.t.o client perception, type of projects, exit options (I'M NOT INTERESTED IN A GENERAL DELOITTE VS CAP DISCUSSION).Thanks in advance.

I will have to agree with SHOUTER on that, even though his utter disregard for our feelings for All Caps is shocking!Capgemini, even though a respectable org. is by no means even remotely in the same league as Deloitte.Go for Deloitte...Although the fact that you had to even ask this question makes me wonder on your fit within Deloitte. I have changed my mind: Head to Cap. You'll love it there.

'not remotely in the same league' is this also true of Capgemini's CDC? I thought it was a good starting point in the consulting industry.

Shouter / Why - do either of you know enough about the TI & BIS practices to make these bold statements or are you comparing Deloitte and Cap in broad terms (using who-knows-what for your comparison). As I mentioned I'm an IT consultant through-and-through and I need to compare these 2 practices (I couldn't care less if Deloitte S&O is better than CAP SAD / PI). SO, IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANY MEANINGFULL INPUT, BITE YOUR TONGUES.To "need more info" - M4 at Deloitte and C4 at Cap.

BIS is the IT strategy practice in Capgemini Transformation Consulting and has a solid European network (also responsible for the CIO survey - 400 f2f interviews globally last year)IT strategy in Deloitte is not in strategy & ops anymore

Do not dare to compare Deloitte TI to Cap's BIS. They are not in the same league at all, Cap is way more superior. What do you think it is? IT Risk Audit? If so, head for Deloitte. Cap BIS do solid IT strategy. You can only compare BIS with the likes of Accenture's SITE. Deloitte plays in the lower leagues in this space.

As in, CapGemini has a stronger IT background than the traditional Deloitte playing field.From an employer point of view; what do you want to accomplish? What are your strengths?Why not talk to them and see which of the two matches your ambitions?

now independent but having worked in both Deloitte Consulting and CC (and hired several people from Deloitte into Capgemini Consulting), I'd say BIS has a very different feel. Deloitte is big, hierarchical and structured - people have lots of toolkit suport but find it difficult to escape their silos. CC BIS is small and gives good stretch opportunities across all their service lines - IT strat thru op model / org design etc. Hours and overall ethic are comparable. Deloitte offices are a million times better than the Wardour St slum. CC culture more open and team-oriented; lots of 'boomerangs' who leave and return, which is a good sign. Make it to partner at Deloitte and you'll be a whole lot richer though. so where did you choose?
