I am a MBA with 10 years of varied work experience.I have never worked in consulting before.Once I decided to get into this world I have managed get an offer from Accenture for a Transition Manager role within services workforce.I have accepted the offer.I have two issues I need help with:1. Salary offered is £42,500 and a promise to review after six months as "I was a untested quantity for a consulting form".I understand this is a C1 salary for a M1 job.I am wondering if I go in and show that I am worth every penny is it realistic that in a couple of years I would be SM with a senior manager wage?2. For someone in my position who has to do a little bit up of catching up to do what are the strategic steps I should take to ensure that I move up fairly quickly given that I am hardworking, qualified and driven.

Maverick,It's definetly M1 job with C1 salary - I would not take it. Secondly, it's Services, i.e. lower pay and worse perception than consulting. Regards

the whole you making SM is slightly different in services, the key thing is what level are they bringing you in? level d, level c? generally level b is on par with senior consultant(C3)/M1 and a level a like an exp manager/SM. and to be frank, 42.5K is less than i made when i made C1, yeah services is less £ in principle, but i would ask for more. also the promotion in services is very different in that it is not necessarily linked to a time period. you pretty much try work out with your CC when you want to go up and try come up with a role/resp to match this. basically you can get promoted at anytime. so in theory yeah you can make it, but.... to get to the top in 2 years will be a hard slog.
