Like death of a salesman, the consultant that can draw up 'plans' and 'powerpoints' without additional skills such as 'delivery' and 'Accountability' is dead, also referred to as the 'Seagull Consultant'. The layoffs in many large practices reflect just that, as the 'able' consultant is still billing the customer and has an endless supply of work.Least it looks like that from where I sit.Grrrrrr!

Hmm, the title's a little misleading. A more common argument is that specialists are now more saleable than generalists. On the face of it that could seem contradictory to your headline.A more accurate summary of your argument could be "strategy-only consultants are dying out, implementation consultants are becoming more widespread" (just playing devil's advocate - I don't necessarily agree).
