I have a serious decision to make in the coming month:I have received an offer from Capgemini as a Technical Strategy Consultant. I am having around 7+ years industry experience. I am currently contracting for a trading firm in London.My questions:1. Should I take the offer? £80k package is being offered which is £15k less than my contract income.2. My contract can be renewed at better rates over £50/hour. Should I go for it?3. How is career progression in CG? I am offered a T6 level for the technology group. Any opinion on T6 level? I have experienced that there is stagnancy in career progression in contract.Your suggestion will be of help in making the right move.

As a previous employee of Cap, I know that T6, which is in TS part of Cap, is equivalent to C3 in the CS part of Cap.A C3 is a senior consultant. Supposedly, CS employees (business consultants) are better remunerated than TS employees (IT consultants). I think the highest salary I have ever heard of for a C3 in CS is 80K (the range is probably 55K-80K) so in my opinion you are the Don for securing such a salary in TS.

Sorry I meant total package rather than salary. Total package is base salary plus flexi benefit.

You need to be T7 to be elligible for a bonus.

Which group in TS is the offer for?Going from T6 to T7 can be done in 2 years but it's UNLIKELY that you'll break the £100k barrier when you do. You will probably come close though what with package rise and a bonus.

I hold a bachelors in engineering with some decent years of experience. Why don't you try Consulting Serivce alongside TS?I am not fully satisfied with £80k package but I envision within couple of years I should be able to break the £100k barrier.

I work in the area in TS which has some of the (if not the) highest paid T7s and T8s in the company. Without knowing exact figures and of course it depends on the individual I don't know of any T7s who are on £100K+ packages. By my reckoning you have to be at least a T8 for that.
