The research organisation is usually part of marketing, itself part of the support structure rather than than the consulting delivery business.As with all professional partnerships (not just the Big 4), support functions command little respect or power and are not resourced anywhere near as rigorously as the revenue-generating lines.Put bluntly, most people in the function are there for 9-5 admin rather than looking to join the fast-track; unfortunately it is difficult to get contact with, or recognition from, consultants and partners and it can be more difficult to move across than if you applied externally, as you will already be in a pre-classified bucket.
