whats the chance of getting caught if i put down on my cv a work experience i havent done, its with a really minor firm that no one would have heard of. I've been offered a grad job with a large global firm but im worried now that i might get caught, does any one know what the standard procedure is for cv checking.

They will probably hire some John Rambo to dig into your past.. They'll do whatever is necessary to discover the truth. If they find something which doesn't sound too good, you will be over :)

I wouldn't fabricate a firm. There's a good chance they'll call your old employers to take up a reference, and you'll be caught out pretty sharpish.
